Back Home Again

Although we pretty much simultanesouly converged on Gainesville, Florida, at the start of our tour, our respective returns to the Bay Area have been a bit less coordinated. Iggy arrived last weekend, Paul is expected in the next week or so, and I have been here for a couple of weeks now.

The tour went very well, by most accounts. We sold enough records and played to sufficiently large and appreciative crowds that we always had enough money for gas to get to the next town (although we didn't always have enough gas!). And we couldn't really ask for more than that, could we?

Of course, none of this would have been possible without all the kind, helpful, and generous people we met throughout our travels. Bitchin's Caroline and Sam both opened their homes to us while we were in Gainesville, and so did many other folks along the way, from This Bike is a Pipe Bomb in Pensacola to the denizens of the Woodfin Compound in Asheville, NC--even though I woke up in a room so cold I could see my breath!

Also, we rarely had less than a blast while being piled in the van with Bitchin' and/or Allergic to Bullshit. Even running out of gas (both times!) was kind of fun. And we felt lucky to play shows with bands we liked so much.

The tour was also productive: each band managed to record new songs. Be on the lookout for a Bitchin'/OFR split 7" and a record/cassette from Allergic to Bullshit in the coming days. I haven't heard the A2B stuff yet, but the Bitchin' stuff sounds awesome!

I've left out lots of details of the tour...perhaps for a later post...but we all had a great time, and I'm already wondering about touring places outside the southeast.
