We've been told to report to Chattanooga, Tennessee, to play at 11pm on Saturday, June 4, 2011, and we will happily oblige. The fest sprawls over two venues, and we're not sure which one we'll be at. Look for us at either JJ's Bohemia or Sluggo's. There's a lot of great bands at the fest this year, and we can't wait to be there!...

After agonizing, soul-searching, what-have-you, we've reached a decision: Onion Flavored Rings can't play The Fest in Chattanooga next month. It saddens that simple economics forces us to miss a chance to play with so many of our friends at what is sure to be fun on a scale even grander than last year. But perhaps we'll make our way to the region later in the summer or fall. And in the meantime, Paul's other band Surrender is headed out on tour soon, and his old band Go Sailor has some shows planned in parts east. And one third of OFR will be at The Fest for sure: Erick's in several bands slated to play over that weekend.
As far as we know, our records are still in print*, but as long we give away the MP3s on our Sound page we figured we can give away the inserts as well. So now in the right hand column, enjoy PDF versions of what has previously only existed as lovingly xeroxed paper found in OFR LPs. And of course if you want to download to view offline rather than in your browser, right click (PCs) or ctrl-click (Macs--or how about option-clicking to download immediately?) and blah blah blah, you've heard it all before. And if you use the MP3s and PDFs to make your own bootleg copies of our records, well, we salute your gritty resolve and determination. It really makes us proud....

Hey, it's been a while. We've been doing stuff, but mainly behind the scenes kinds of things: working on new songs, recording them, making a new record. The idea is to get the record out in time for...our autumn tour! We'll be traveling from Chattanooga to Seattle, with stops in New York City and Duluth, plus two different cities of Athens, and lots more. Exact dates and details will appear here when we know them for sure. We'll be on the road some three weeks, late September to mid-October, with new songs and a new record, playing with some great bands. We hope you can come out to see us. We can't wait to see you!...

Last week, OFR was at the Black Fork/Zero Boys show at Gilman. Just to watch, of course. Great show. This week--tonight, 27 Feb 2009--our Portland pals Defect Defect are playing at a house in West Oakland. Again, OFR will be there, but this time...to play! The address? Ummmm...12th Street-ish? "Acts of Sedition House?" It's nestled among all the other houses where there've been shows over there the last few years. Pine St.? Wood St.? It's all a blur to me. But we'll be there tonight, Fischer from Santa Cruz will be there, and you can be there, too. Just listen for the joyous noises emanating from one house or another. And come on in!...

Well, expectations for the Gilman Show last night were very low, and I'm happy to say we surpassed them. The Measure [SA] from New Jersey/Brooklyn/Tampa(?!) made their cross-country trip worthwhile. PDXers reading this on 11 Jan 2009, check them out at Mafia House tonight with Drunken Boat! Back here in the Bay Area, OFR eagerly anticipates the next show, with old pals (Blonde Ambition), friends we haven't met yet (Landlord), and the intriguingly named Schlitz Claiborne. But why tell when you can show? I've seen lots of bands at this place since they started up last summer, and it's always a great time. We're really excited to finally get our chance to play here, too. Not to mention playing a little ping-pong in the garage between bands. Also...it will be show-organizer Julia's birthday. I can't promise cake and ice cream,...
