911 Is a Joke in Davis, Too

So the first half of the show in Davis was fun. A little late getting started, but until we got there, no band seemed willing to go first. Well, we have jobs and stuff, so starting/finishing early on a Tuesday night doesn't bother us at all. Only 8:30? Let's play!

Portland's Straitjacket followed, and by 9:40 or so, everyone was eager to hear The Observers and Black Dahlia, who were just setting up. That's about when the cops showed up.

Seems someone, feeling her life threatened by the noise emanating from the Pirate House, called 911 to summon help. I can't imagine it was OFR that caused this panic, but then, Straitjacket aren't really that scary, either. And a response to such a moronic "emergency" in less than an hour?

No, she must have called as soon as punks started arriving, well before the show started. Or maybe when we briefly parked across her driveway, blocking any escape from cannibalistic crusties about to climb in her kitchen window.

Presumably Davis's own Black Dahlia didn't travel far to play, but The Observers drove many miles from Portland, only to sit and watch as the show was shut down. You can help them get over this bitter disappointment by going to their show at Gilman tonight. (Says they're from WA, but it's Portland, OR, I promise.)
